Covid-19 Update

Dear Frontier Family and Friends,

For the past several weeks and months, the whole Frontier team has worked tirelessly in an attempt to find some clarity in these trying times. We want you to know that we understand and share in the frustration created by the COVID 19 pandemic as we all collectively try to navigate the uncertainty of our new reality. While the ever-changing nature of the response to this unprecedented situation has meant that definitive answers are hard to come by, we’d like to take a moment to explain what we do know.

The 2020 season at Frontier was poised to be one of the best in our 60 years of operation. With the recent establishment of the Thaidene Nëné National Park Reserve, and the subsequent purchase of Frontier by Łutsël K’é Dene First Nation, there was growing excitement amongst the staff, clientele and the community as a whole. This summer was supposed to be about building upon the traditions and history of one of the Northwest Territories oldest Lodges, while at the same time renewing our commitment to providing our clients with world class experiences on the East Arm by expanding our programming to meet the growing demand for cultural and adventure-based tourism that will accompany the creation of Thaidene Nëné.

Unfortunately, the truth is that the unprecedented nature of the COVID 19 pandemic has had a dramatic impact on our 2020 operations. With International and Territorial travel restrictions currently in place for all non-essential workers, and public health orders changing as fast as we can respond to them, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to shut down our 2020 season in its entirety.

While we understand that this is unwelcomed news to everyone, please know that this decision was not taken lightly and was made to ensure the continued success of Frontier moving forward. All clients who had trips booked in 2020, have already had their deposits and bookings transferred forward to 2021. Which means, on top of the bookings we already had, space is already limited next summer and 2021 is shaping up to be even busier than we had projected for this year!

COVID or not, at Frontier our work never stops. While we’re not able to welcome our valued clients to the Lodge this summer, we are forging ahead with renovations to ensure that when you do return next summer, your Frontier experience will be better and safer than ever!

So, rest assured, that while you may be at home longingly looking at your fishing gear, know that the Lake Trout are still getting fatter, the Northern Pike are getting longer, and the Arctic Grayling will nevertheless be waiting in the riffles for the next caddis to float by.

This will end, and when it does, a trip to Frontier will be exactly what we all need!
